Fairy Queen

The history of the Fairy Queen dates back to 1855 when the majestic train rolled out for the East Indian railway. The engine of this train is probably the oldest working engine in the world.

After an interval of 142 years, the fairy queen rolled again on 1 February, 1997 from New Delhi. Finding its pride of place in "The Guinness Book of World Records" and also winning the award of National Tourism, this prestigious pristine beauty, that graces the national rail museum, New Delhi, is running again.

The queen with the privileged ones aboard reaches the picturesque town of Alwar in Rajasthan the same day, from where the guests are taken to Sariska Tiger Reserve for an overnight stay.

The passengers are served with breakfast, lunch, refreshment and beverages while traveling in the Fairy Queen. The tariff of the train includes everything except the consumption of liquor which is chargeable.

It also has the honour of being the first exhibit of national rail museum in 1996. After 1855, it returned for working on main line Chair car for carrying 60 passengers and service car including generator (230v supply) & compressor (air brakes for the train).

Its first commercial trip took place on 13 January, 1998. Then it got the most prestigious reward: the Guinness Certification as the world's oldest working locomotive on 25 January, 1999 followed by the National Tourism Award for most innovative & unique project.
